Lucknow: The Chairman’s position in the Uttar Pradesh Waqf Tribunal has remained vacant for a long time, leading to thousands of pending cases and giving land mafias and illegal Waqf encroachers a free hand. The inefficiency and negligence of the Minority Department have further worsened the situation, causing delays in justice and increasing threats to Waqf properties.
"Save Waqf India" Writes to the Chief Minister and Chief Justice, Demands Immediate Appointment
Amidst this concerning scenario, Syed Rizwan Mustafa, Vice President of "Save Waqf India Mission," has written to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, urging the immediate appointment of the Waqf Tribunal Chairman.
In his letter, Syed Rizwan Mustafa highlighted that the absence of a Chairman in the Tribunal has resulted in unnecessary delays in resolving Waqf-related disputes, allowing encroachers and land mafias to exploit the situation. He accused the Minority Department of neglecting its responsibility regarding this crucial appointment, thereby disrupting judicial processes and putting Waqf properties at greater risk.
Rising Threats to Waqf Properties, Delayed Justice
The Waqf Tribunal plays a crucial role in safeguarding Waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh. Under Sections 52 and 54 of the Waqf Act, the Tribunal is responsible for removing illegal encroachments and settling disputes. However, without a Chairman, legal proceedings have come to a standstill, putting Waqf assets worth thousands of crores at risk.
Syed Rizwan Mustafa warned that if the Chairman’s appointment is delayed any further, illegal encroachments on Waqf properties will increase exponentially. He urged the government to immediately activate the Waqf Tribunal and appoint a Chairman to restore judicial efficiency.
Appeal for Government and Judiciary Intervention
"Save Waqf India Mission" has appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Chief Justice of the High Court to take urgent notice of this matter and ensure the prompt appointment of the Waqf Tribunal Chairman.
Syed Rizwan Mustafa emphasized that activating the Tribunal is crucial for protecting Waqf properties and maintaining a fair judicial process. If this delay continues, it will have severe consequences for both the Waqf assets and the justice system.
Public Outrage, Demand for Immediate Action
The negligence of the Minority Department has sparked widespread anger among stakeholders and the general public. People are demanding immediate intervention by the government and judiciary to restore the Waqf Tribunal’s functionality and take strict action against land mafias.
Now, all eyes are on the government and judiciary to see how swiftly they act on this critical issue and what concrete measures they take to protect Waqf properties.
